0.9.0 Latest
Compiled setup, free-to-use licence
- One setup bundle per system, each with only the files it needs: Linux (x86_64) first, with Windows and macOS to follow.
- The program ships as compiled code only: the solvers were already compiled from Rust, and now every module of the application is compiled to native code as well.
- OxiPhys is now free to use under the OxiPhys licence, for commercial work, teaching and research. Versions up to 0.8.8 keep the MIT or Apache-2.0 licence they were released under.
- Code by others that ships with OxiPhys is listed with its licences in THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.md, in every bundle.
- Fixed: with Python 3.9 and Matplotlib 3.9, the design workspace failed to draw sketches and part edges in the Matplotlib view.

0.8.8
Dimensions and sections placed on the sheet, detail views
- Section views: the cutting line, arrows and letter follow the pointer before the click; sections can be flipped from the inspector.
- Dimensions: snap rings on corners, ends and circles, the dimension drawn live after its two points; Shift on a circle gives a radius; dimensions on sections and details.
- Dimensions on the sheet are selected by a click, dragged to move and removed with Delete; Esc or a right click leaves any tool.
- Detail views: a circle, square or rectangle, or a freehand outline round part of a view, drawn again larger at an ISO 5455 scale, with the outline and letter on both views.
- Extra views fill the space under the standard views before new columns, so drawings keep a larger scale.

0.8.7
Drag drawing views, free rotation, swept hexahedra, help in the search
- Drawing views can be dragged on the sheet; the top and right-hand views slide along their projection line and the front view takes them with it.
- Free rotation: a trackball for Ctrl and drag, or for a plain drag when free rotation is on (View menu, the T key or Preferences); near the rim it rolls.
- Mapped hexahedra on parts made by one extrusion are swept from a quadrilateral profile: on round profiles the mean quality goes from about 0.5 to about 0.9.
- Meshes with folded cells are meshed again, and a folded mesh is refused before the solver with advice.
- The search field (Ctrl+K) finds help as well as commands: shortcuts, tutorials and the sections of the guides.
- A glass look with floating panes, vivid step tiles and colourful CAD and analysis icons.
-
0.8.6
Rounded look, command search, far less solver memory
- Rounded, anti-aliased controls with pastel light and dark palettes; San Francisco on macOS, the bundled Inter font elsewhere.
- Command search (Ctrl+K or Cmd+K) over the menus, the current toolbar and the themes.
- Side panels slide and the 3D view glides between orientations; a preference turns the transitions off.
- Assembly straight into the sparse matrix pattern: 3D peak memory down 2 to 7 times. Multigrid for iterative solves of 50,000 unknowns and more, about twice as fast.
- python -m oxiphys.benchmark measures solvers, memory and the desktop application on your computer.

0.8.5
OpenGL 3D view, turntable turning
- The 3D view is drawn by the graphics card (OpenGL) on Windows and Linux, with picking, hover, views, box zoom and picture export; it falls back to Matplotlib.
- Turntable turning by default: a horizontal drag turns about z, a vertical drag tilts.
- Windows: the mouse wheel reaches the view under the pointer; taskbar icon and shortcut fixes; DPI awareness.
- Parts drawn in the design workspace are named with z up; older projects keep their names.
-
0.8.4
Welcome window, plane choice, snapping
- A welcome window at start: new drawing, import CAD, examples, open or recent.
- Sketches ask for a plane: click a plane or a flat face, lit up on hover. Second features can be sketched on faces.
- Sketcher: automatic snapping, centre and 3-point rectangles, 2- and 3-point circles, patterns, merge points and more dimension kinds.
- Quicker 3D view while turning, panning and zooming.
-
0.8.3
Side panels fold to strips
- The navigator and the inspector fold to 44-pixel strips that keep a tile for every step.
-
0.8.2
The OxiPhys logo, a new setup program and layout
- The OxiPhys logo for the icon, the splash screen, the empty view and the setup banner.
- Setup with a banner, steps down the left, option cards, a progress bar and a finish page; OxiPhys keeps running after setup closes.
- A toolbar with the step's labelled commands, a navigator with search and an inspector on the right.
-
0.8.1
Compact layout for small screens
- Workflow steps move into the top row; the side panel can be hidden (F9) and messages wait until wanted (F10).
- A ribbon-style command bar in the design workspace, and a column of view buttons beside every view.
-
0.8.0
Part design and engineering drawings
- A design workspace for 3D parts: feature tree, command bar, property panel and a parametric sketcher whose relations and dimensions are solved together.
- Sweep, loft, rib, shell, draft, reference planes and a hole tool with ISO sizes.
- Engineering drawings on ISO sheets: views with hidden lines and silhouettes, sections, dimensions, notes, tables and a title block, exported to PDF, SVG, PNG or DXF.
- Mass properties, and documentation and validation for all of it.
-
0.7.0
Sketch features, materials library, OxiTunnel, tutorials
- A CAD-style camera with free rotation, roll and unlimited zoom, and three mouse styles.
- A new-project window with examples and six guided tutorials.
- Extruded and revolved bosses and cuts, fillet, chamfer, patterns and mirror.
- A materials library of 27 solids and 18 fluids with sources; elastoplastic static runs in the app.
- OxiTunnel for external flow, with drag and lift coefficients, validated for a cylinder and a sphere at Re = 20.
- Section planes through 3D results, and a Kannada interface.
-
0.6.0
Setup program, preferences, languages
- A setup program for Windows, macOS and Linux with every option first, a per-user install, update in place and an uninstaller.
- Light, dark and high-contrast themes, accent colours, interface size, unit systems and nine interface languages.
- Results as contours, dots, arrows, streamlines and moving particles.
- Local mesh controls on faces, edges and points, and picking by clicking in the view.
-
0.5.0
CAD import, geometry files, meshing methods
- STEP, IGES, BREP and closed STL import; imported parts combine with built shapes and touching parts are bonded.
- The .oxgeo geometry file, with imported parts embedded.
- Free, mapped and swept meshing, with a mesh quality report.
-
0.4.0
The desktop application
- A workbench that walks through analysis, geometry, mesh, material, loads and supports, solve and results.
- Solves run in a separate process; Stop keeps partial flow solutions. VTK, CSV and picture export.
-
